Katie Carey & Big Day Climate
Leveraging a multidisciplinary career to explore the intersection of climate action and entertainment, Katie Carey founded Big Day Climate to connect the climate industry with storytellers and bring its greatest adventures to life.
As an accomplished ESG and sustainability strategist—with over 17 years of experience spanning Fortune 500 companies to innovative startups—Katie helps organizations transform complex environmental challenges into business value through advanced solutions, measurable frameworks, and technology-enabled programs. Her journey into climate includes developing strategies, operations, and products across technology, CPG (FMCG), e-commerce, food and beverage, television, and media sectors.
Her early career was rooted in the storytelling renaissance of the Food Network and other culinary media outlets, where her roles in television production gave her a front-row seat to how entertainment reshaped global food culture—changing the way people cook, eat, travel, and think about the world. Katie's work during the height of the food media movement demonstrated how creative media can elevate and make seemingly complex and unfamiliar topics accessible, relatable, and fun for millions.
Now, Katie sees the same transformative opportunity for climate storytelling. Just as food television made cooking accessible and aspirational, she believes climate entertainment can make sustainability solutions engaging, relatable, actionable, and even fun (A LOT of fun) for global audiences. Big Day Climate's mission is to provide climate insights that inspire storytellers across the entertainment industry, while building a community to foster better climate conversations focused on possibility and the incredible human stories shaping tomorrow.
